New Experiences

Last week was full of challenges and new experiences. When I had to deal with some of those challenges, I was scared and anxious of the unknown. Fortunately, I was able to face those challenges with courage and I learned a lot because them.

The way I was feeling last week reminded me of a Youtube video about a girl’s first ski jump. She has to build up the courage to go down the hill, but when she does, she is excited and realizes it is “just the suspense at the top for the first time [that] freaks you out”. Even though new experiences can be scary, there is so much perspective that can be gained and so much knowledge that can be acquired when we have the courage to face new challenges.

Check out the video of this fourth grader’s first ski jump:

I think this is such a positive way of looking at the unknown things all of us get anxious about. I think this could be useful in a classroom setting, teaching students that trying new things is great and the outcomes of what could happen may be amazing, but you have to try those things in order to find out! I love it. Thanks for sharing.

I love this video, not only because it is the cutest thing ever, but because of just what you said, trying new things can be hard but it is so worth it in the end! Students need to be reminded of that.

Awe this video is adorable- thanks for sharing! I definitely agree that it is often the fear f the unknown which scares you more then the actually experience. This is a great perspective for trying new things in life.

Amanda thank you so much for posting this video! This little girl is so inspirational and she doesn’t even know it. It really did put things into perspective and look at things positively even if they are scary.
